Patty has had dogs in her life since she was very young, but didn't start working with "full time" until she started working in a kennel/groom shop 10 years ago in Tennessee. Patty has had innumerable experiences with dogs, but the following are a few of the
professional experiences that Patty had found the most memorable and rewarding.Best Friends Sanctuary - Since 2005 she travels yearly to work with dogs at the sanctuary. She usually works in “The Lodges” with harder to handle dogs because of her experience with training and dogs with behavioral issues. In 2009 Patty started working as a Community Animal Assistant for the Sanctuary to help people with training and behavioral issues. Using the Internet, Patty is able to counsel dog owners who are frustrated with some of the behaviors that rescue dogs can exhibit. Often, these owners are at their wits end and ready to return these pets to the shelter. Due to the training and counseling that Patty gives, most owners are able to keep their dogs rather than give them back to a shelter. Animal League of Green Valley - Patty volunteers as a dog handler/behaviorist once a week. She counsels people interested in adopting, gets information about their lifestyle and helps them decide which dog would work
well for them. She also handles the dogs with behavior issues and works with them to make them more social and more easily adoptable. Handi-Dogs - 2006-2009 Patty volunteered weekly as a class assistant, helping the instructors to train both people and dogs. Handi-Dogs teaches people how to train their dogs to become service animals. Patty met Laura
while at Handi-Dogs, while working as Laura's class assistant. Their working partnership was so fun and productive she decided to become an independent contractor with EQuality Dog Training. Patty knew she had found a great fit!In her personal life, Patty has three dogs, all Boxers. She also has an extremely supportive husband. |
