In this class the following behaviors are learned: Name response Safe greeting techniques Sit Down Come Targeting Loose Leash Walking Leave-it Stay Settle In addition to these basic good manners, individual problems will be addressed. There will be a strong emphasis on positive reinforcement and clicker training techniques. Techniques to prevent future problems, such as fear of thunderstorms, will be discussed. Requirements: A dog A leash Lots of yummy treats A willingness to have a tremendous amount of fun Advanced good manners are for dogs that want to accompany their people in public. In this class the following behaviors will be learned: Close By Me Wait Stand Random Down Front Under Follow Requirements: Your dog A leash Lots of yumy treat A willingness to have a tremendous amount of fun Basic good manners After learning the behaviors in Basic and Advanced Good Manners your dog should have no trouble helping you to pass the CGC (Canine Good Citizen) certification test. Each of these classes is 10 weeks in length. This gives you and your dog ample time for review. It is recommended that you attend these classes in a group setting, particularly if you are planning to obtain your CGC. It is important for your dog to be well socialized in order to be a well mannered dog in public.
