EQuality Dog Training is excited to announce the beginning of drop in Service Dog Brush up Classes! This is a much-needed and much requested program for service dog users. Sometimes service dogs begin to have difficulties performing certain tasks. Perhaps the dog encountered something that scared it while it was performing a task. Now the dog is slow to respond when that task is requested, or they just refuse to do it altogether. This is not a problem! Just attend a few brush up classes where the goal will be to make that task something fun for your dog to do. Once they remember how fun it is, they'll be performing the task as well as ever! Occasionally our service dogs forget how to do a certain job. Perhaps it's something that is not often needed. Suddenly, it is needed, and your dog sits and looks at you like you are speaking a foreign language. That's the wrong time to start kicking yourself and realizing that you should have occasionally trained that behavior just in case you needed it again. It's easy to forget to do that. We all live busy lives and the life of a person with a disability is often jam packed with activities. Yet somehow you're still supposed to find the time to keep all behaviors current just in case you need them. While it can be a challenge to find the time to come to a brush up class, the rewards are immense. The classes are based solely on operant conditioning techniques. This makes it tremendous fun for the dogs. When your dog is having fun, you're usually having fun too. In addition, brush up classes are an excellent way to network and build support systems with individuals with similar problems, goals, and lifestyles. Whatever the reason, often service dogs only need a couple of formal training sessions to brush up on behaviors that have lapsed. Bring your dog to EQuality Dog Training where a qualified service dog trainer/instructor will assist you while you help your dog re-master all of their behaviors. You will only work on the behaviors that you need help with. To participate, simply call (878-3644) or e-mail (edt@equalitydogtraining.com) to reserve a space in the next class. The cost is $10 for an hour class. Work on one behavior, or work on several, it's your choice! |
