To Whom It May Concern,Hi! My name is Minnie. I am 2 years old. I live in Tucson, Arizona with my mom and dad, and three, four footed siblings. My mom and I started training with Ms. Laura in January 2009. My first day I stayed under a chair and WOULD NOT come out to see what was going on. Mom wasn't much better! It wasn't long before my curiosity got the better of me and I just HAD to join in all the fun things Laura did. There was always some surprise to keep us entertained and learning. Once we had a shopping cart, apopping toy and a hedgehog toy. She can be VERY creative to get us thinking. I realized that Laura and I would have to become a team to train mom. I began to look forward to the classes and with Laura cheering us on we began our journey toward becoming a service dog team. Laura was always willing to meet us at our level....which was good as mom didn't always "catch on" as quick as I did!!!! Using a combination of patience and humor Laura began to show us that we were prettty smart little creatures. ( our moms and dads were pretty clever too). Who knew we could "sit", "stay', come when called, listen for our names, do a nice "down"command, learn to stand by our parents, follow them, learn assistance tasks and, in general, go from wild little puppies to well-behaved ladies and gettlemen-all a few short months!!!! My parents are proud to take me out in public now and, thanks to Laura, I am well on my way to becoming a Canine Good Citizen and a wonderful service dog. I would certainly recommend Ms. Laura as a teacher. She is one of my best two legged friends. P.S. I am Minnie's mom and would definitely agree with my little "daughter". I had always wanted to train a service dog for myself. There were so many questions and concerns. We were assigned Laura as a teacher and I am so glad we were. Laura made herself available to all of us nervous parents. It made no difference if it was 6pm or midnight. She made it clear we were not an imposition. We began to look forward to each class to see what "devious" little exercises she had devised for us. Nothing was too far out of bounds for her to try to get our little "kids" motivated. Laura is one of those lucky individuals in life who is in the perfect job. She is a natural with dogs-and their people-and has an uncanny knack for seeing things others miss when training their dogs. She is an inexhaustible resource on any subject of training. Laura is always researching and updating her techniques. Ask her anything and she will have solution or know where you can get the answer. I can guarantee that you will have a wonderful experience with Laura. Just as important will be that you and your dog will have gained a wonderful friend. you will come to love her just as MInnie and I have. Minnie's mom Kudos to Laura! When another method of puppy training failed for me, Laura came to my rescue. She is an experienced trainer, and her method of kindness, patience and humor gave me the knowledge and confidence to handle my puppy's undesirable behavior. Laura followed up the weekly lesson with reports that helped reinforce what I had learned. I now have the confidence to handle my lovable puppy. After just 10 short weeks I have changed from a frustrated puppy owner to an owner who enjoys her puppy. Thank you Laura. Irene G. Tucson |
